U.S. Ordering Currently Paused Due to Impending Tariff Impact

Important Update for Our Valued U.S. Customers - a Summary...

Regretfully, ITLA has had to TEMPORARILY pause U.S. ordering. A new U.S. Section 338 tariff affecting our Canadian-made scale-model kits is scheduled to take effect on August 19, 2026.

( UPDATE !! Deadline Now Postponed 3 days until August 22, 2026).

Please note U.S. customers will not be able to load a shopping cart during this time. The USD currency selector will not work as our U.S. market is temporarily closed.

We temporarily paused new U.S. orders to allow us time to clear the order bank. We will reopen to the U.S. market once the final tariff impact is understood, calculated and collected correctly.  Unless changed through negotiation or further government action, the additional U.S. import tariff is currently set at 50% of the purchased product price. 

We processed all existing U.S. orders through our system and shipped them in advance of the deadline to avoid this potential tariff and any unexpected financial impact to our customers.

 Please note…this tariff would be a U.S. government import duty charged to the customer.

Any resulting tariff amount collected would not be retained by ITLA, but remitted to the U.S. government.

The Detail ... In the Spirit of Transparency ...

President Donald Trump signed three proclamations on July 20, 2026, invoking Section 338 of the Tariff Act of 1930 to impose a 50% additional tariff on targeted Canadian goods, effective August 19, 2026. These tariffs override normal USMCA/CUSMA rules, applying to specified products including Canadian-made scale-model kits.

This new U.S. Section 338 tariff affecting our Canadian-made scale-model kits is scheduled to take effect on August 19, 2026. Unless changed through negotiation or further government action, the additional U.S. import tariff will be set at 50% of the purchased product price.

Unlike previous U.S. tariffs, this Section 338 tariff overrides the current duty-free protection of our Canadian-made products under the USMCA/CUSMA trade agreement.

ITLA temporarily paused new U.S. orders as of August 7, 2026 and will reopen them once the final tariff is understood, calculated and collected correctly. 

When U.S. ordering resumes, IF NECESSARY we will use Delivered-Duty-Paid checkout pricing. Any applicable tariff—whether the final rate is 50%, or a reduced rate will be clearly shown and prepaid by the customer at checkout.

Please note…this is a U.S. government import duty, not an ITLA price increase, and the tariff amount is not retained by ITLA.
